LANSING — Today, the Michigan House of Representatives unanimously passed House Bill 4734, which would revise the Michigan Election Law to extend certification timelines for county clerks and require county Boards of Canvassers to report ballot irregularities to the Secretary of State. In response, state Rep. Jeremy Moss (D-Southfield), sponsor of HB 4734, issued the following statement:

“This is a great day for the integrity of elections here in Michigan. The accuracy of election certification is critical to any stable democracy, and I am glad the House took up these sensible reforms to our election law. I hope my colleagues in the Senate will join us in passing this measure to strengthen Michigan’s Election Laws.”
