LANSING — Yesterday, the Michigan House of Representatives passed House Resolution 341, sponsored by state Rep. Jeremy Moss (D-Southfield), declaring this week to be Bladder Cancer Awareness Week in Michigan. In response, Rep. Moss issued the following statement:
“Bladder cancer has clear warning signs, and if it is caught soon enough, it can be treated. But all too often it goes undiagnosed, and people suffer lifelong consequences as a result. An estimated 3,070 people in the state of Michigan are expected to be diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2018, and an estimated 630 will die due to the disease in 2018 alone, affecting people of all ages and backgrounds. With more awareness and research into the disease, we can increase rates of early detection, proper treatment, and life-saving outcomes. I hope this resolution will help raise public knowledge and attention to this serious disease.”
