LANSING — Today, Legislative Republicans passed two bills, SB 1171 and SB 1175, gutting the citizen-led ballot initiatives that were passed into law back in September. In response, state Rep. Jeremy Moss (D-Southfield) issued the following statement:

“This last-ditch effort to cozy up to corporate interests before they lose their monopoly on power shines light on the true priorities of the state’s outgoing leadership. By gutting these initiated laws, the legislative majority has provided their wealthy CEO friends another opportunity to pad their pocketbooks at the expense of everyday Michiganders. That’s shameful. Our job is not to impose the ideals of corporations on the people of Michigan, but to give the people of Michigan a chance to earn a decent living and provide for their families.”
