“House Bill 5002 will make it harder for injured workers to get the best possible treatment so that they can quickly return to their jobs. The amendment that I offered today would have simply allowed an injured worker to obtain a second opinion at no cost to that worker. Second opinions are standard operating procedure in medicine, but the Republican majority refused to allow injured workers the same option that legislators and many other workers have. It makes no sense to cut an employer’s costs by denying a worker the ability to get a second opinion that could possibly result in a better treatment plan that may return that employee to work even faster.”
