LANSING — Today, Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette ruled that Michigan’s Civil Rights Commissions decision to investigate cases of discrimination against lesbians, gays, bisexual and transgendered persons is invalid. In response, state Rep. Jon Hoadley (D-Kalamazoo) issued the following statement:
“Bill Schuette gets it wrong twice today. First, his statement is clearly throwing LGBTQ families under the bus to score political points for his campaign. Second, despite being a career politician, it is clear he needs a civics lesson on how our state government works. The attorney general can’t just tell an independent commission how to do their work when he disagrees with its decision. Voters will remember Schuette is not on the side of LGBTQ people when it is time to vote.”
