Statement from state Rep. Jon Hoadley (D-Kalamazoo) on legislation that would rob Michiganders of health care coverage:
LANSING — Today, the House Appropriations Committee voted out legislation that would rob hundreds of thousands of Michiganders of their health care through the Healthy Michigan plan. In response, state Rep. Jon Hoadley (D-Kalamazoo) issued the following statement:
“No matter how you package it Senate Bill 897 strips working families of their health care. If your employer cuts your hours, you could see your health care cut. Additionally, this bill contains a poison pill where if Washington doesn’t act fast enough, hundreds of thousands of people who are meeting all the requirements outlined in SB 897 will still lose their health insurance. At the end of the day, health care is a right, not a privilege, and that is why I voted no in committee and will remain a no vote on this bill.”
