LANSING — Today, the House Appropriations Committee took testimony on a bill that would rob nearly one million Michiganders of their Medicaid coverage. In response, state Rep. Jon Hoadley (D-Kalamazoo) issued the following statement:

“Senate Bill 897 would put many working Michigan families and young people who now have health care coverage in a world of hurt. Spending tens of millions of extra dollars stripping Medicaid from someone because their boss cut their hours or shorted their shift just shows how backwards SB 897 is. Republicans couldn’t take health care away at the federal level, so now they’re attacking it piece by piece at the state level. Healthcare is a right and creating more hoops to jump through to keep healthcare is wrong.”
