LANSING — Today, the House of Representatives voted out legislation that would rob hundreds of thousands of Michiganders of their health care through the Healthy Michigan plan. In response, state Rep. Kristy Pagan (D-Canton) issued the following statement:
“This bill does one thing and one thing only — it takes away health care from more than 500,000 Michigan residents. In addition, Senate Bill 897 would hurt our children because this bill does not offer assistance with child care if parents are forced to work. Despite efforts to improve this bill, this legislation still harms the hundreds of thousands of Michiganders who benefited from the Healthy Michigan Medicaid expansion supported by Gov. Snyder in 2013. It still rigs the rules against workers who have no control over their hours. And it still fails to provide funding and resources needed to help people find good-paying jobs so that they can keep their health care. This bill remains a threat to the well-being of families in all corners of Michigan and I will continue to stand against it.”
