LANSING — Last night, Legislative Republicans passed two bills, SB 1171 and SB 1175, gutting the citizen-led ballot initiatives that were passed into law back in September. In response, state Rep. Leslie Love (D-Detroit) issued the following statement:
“I have supported the One Fair Wage ballot initiative since it began circulating more than a year ago, which is why I am so appalled by this action to undermine the intent of the initiative and amend the law to suit corporate interests. I stand in solidarity with the working people across the state who joined together to demand a higher minimum wage, and am going to continue fighting to see that their voices are heard and respected.”
