LANSING — This summer, state Rep. Pam Faris (D-Clio) held a reading contest for students in the area in grades 1-4 and 5-8. She announced today that the winners of her summer reading contest are Molly Walker of Gates Elementary in Davison and Anastacia Taylor of Carter Middle School in Clio. They have each won a free e-reader, along with a charger, case and screen protector, paid for with Rep. Faris’ personal funds, not taxpayer dollars. In response to her contest ending, Rep. Faris made the following statement:

“I would like to congratulate Molly and Anastacia for winning the contest, and also thank all of the school districts, libraries, students and parents who participated in the contest this summer. It is encouraging to see so many young people taking time to immerse themselves in other worlds and keep their minds active during their summer vacations. Although the contest is over, I hope parents will continue reading to young ones at home and encourage a love of reading in their children.”
