LANSING — Today, the Michigan House of Representatives adopted state Rep. Patrick Green’s (D-Warren) House Resolution 329 designating May 13-19, 2018, as Police Week in Michigan. In addition, Rep. Green issued the following statement:

“About 17,000 full-time uniformed police officers serve 600 state, county and local departments in Michigan, putting their lives on the line every day to protect our families and keep our communities safe and secure. Michigan citizens turn to law enforcement officers for assistance and support during personal crises, civil disorder or natural disasters, and these officers answer the call and often put their own lives in jeopardy.

“We are indebted to and grateful for the unwavering public service of Michigan’s law enforcement officers. Designating May 13 -19 of this year as Police Week in Michigan allows us to shine a light on our communities and show our appreciation as the nation celebrates National Police Week and National Police Officers Memorial Day on May 15. I thank my House colleagues for joining me to show our respect and thanks to Michigan’s law enforcement officers.”
