LANSING — Today, Legislative Republicans passed two bills, SB 1171 and SB 1175, gutting the citizen-led ballot initiatives that were passed into law back in September. In response, state Rep. Phil Phelps (D-Flushing) issued the following statement
“Instead of understanding the struggles facing Michigan families and working to improve their financial security, Republican lawmakers have stripped working families of the support they need to build a secure future, just to please corporate special interest groups. I was sent to Lansing to be a voice for the working people of our state, and I will do all I can to ensure they have the strong paychecks and secure benefits they deserve.”
