LANSING — Yesterday, state Rep. Robert Wittenberg (D-Huntington Woods) joined Oak Park Police Chief Steve Cooper and the family of fallen Officer Mason James Samborski for a ceremonial bill signing with Gov. Rick Snyder to designate the portion of I-96 that runs through Howell as the ‘Officer Mason James Samborski Memorial Highway.’ Following the bill signing, Rep. Wittenberg issued the following statement:

“Throughout his life, Officer Mason James Samborski demonstrated the courage, compassion and commitment of a truly heroic public servant. He inspired colleagues, friends and family on a daily basis by dedicating his life to protecting us. I am humbled to stand alongside his family today to enshrine his memory into one of Michigan’s most historic highways.”
