“Today I voted in support of House Bills 4637-4640, bills to regulate transportation network companies such as Uber and Lyft which are increasingly popular among people in metro Detroit. These bills put necessary safeguards in place for both passengers and drivers as we work to improve the larger problems of our public transportation infrastructure. As one of the youngest members of our Legislature, I am keenly aware that young professionals place a premium on transportation and sustainability as they decide where to live and start a career. As we fight to retain a diverse and talented workforce and to make Michigan a place where individuals and families want to invest, establish roots, and start a family, I see these bills and the regulations included in them as a necessary first step and as an investment in our state’s future.”
