LANSING — Today, Legislative Republicans passed two bills, SB 1171 and SB 1175, gutting the citizen-led ballot initiatives that were passed into law back in September. In response, state Rep. Robert Wittenberg (D-Huntington Woods) issued the following statement:
“Strong paychecks and secure benefits are the foundation of a vibrant economy. Yet Republicans are favoring special interest groups and big corporations at the expense of working families. Voting for these bills shows that Republicans are prioritizing wealthy CEOs over hard working Michiganders who actually build our economy. The people of our state deserve better.”
