LANSING — Today, skilled trades workers from across Michigan rallied in front of the state Capitol in opposition to efforts to repeal the state’s prevailing wage laws. In response, state Rep. Ronnie Peterson (D-Ypsilanti) issued the following statement:

“I was proud to stand in solidarity with workers from across the state today against misguided efforts to deny them a living wage for their work. Michigan’s prevailing wage laws are critical to ensuring that our state-funded construction projects — the same ones that build our schools and roads — are being carried out by well-paid, skilled workers, who in turn are better able to support themselves and their families and help move our economy forward. I will always stand against any efforts to deny our state’s construction workers the high wages they deserve.”
