“I am honored to have been appointed to serve on the House Appropriations Committee for the 2017-18 legislative session. Additionally, I will also be serving as the Democratic vice chair of the Licensing and Regulatory Affairs/Department of Insurance and Financial Services Appropriations Subcommittee, as well as being a member of the Appropriations Subcommittees on State Police and Transportation. Having a seat on this influential committee will enable me to more effectively address the issues impacting the 54th District. Issues such as fire protection grants, secondary road patrols and cost-sharing on limited-access freeways will all originate in my subcommittees. Additionally, funding provisions for general law enforcement, local revenue sharing and K-12 and higher education will all require the approval of the full appropriations committee. Michigan faces many tough decisions in the coming years in terms of how we best allocate our finances so that we can direct our growth to the areas that need it most. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in these committees to enact meaningful change for all Michiganders.”
