LANSING — Today, a judge postponed ruling in the ongoing Flint Legionnaires case involving Department of Health and Human Services Director Nick Lyons. In response, state Rep. Sheldon A. Neeley (D-Flint) issued the following statement:

“How long will we have to continue to watch a travesty of justice? Today’s delay is another blow to residents of the city of Flint who are awaiting justice. The longer we delay justice for Flint residents, the more taxpayer dollars are wasted due to bureaucratic inaction — with taxpayers paying for both the defense and the prosecution — and all the while Nick Lyons continues to collect a state salary. It is time for Attorney General Schuette to fulfill the obligations of his current job. A priority must be placed on fulfilling those obligations of his current position before attempting to seek a new one. I am calling on him to champion justice for the people of the state Michigan and the residents of Flint.”
