LANSING — Today, the Michigan House of Representatives adopted House Resolution 345, sponsored by state Rep. Sylvia Santana (D-Detroit), declaring May 19 to be Armed Forces Day in Michigan. In response, Rep. Santana issued the following statement:

“The women and men serving in our Armed Forces put their lives on the line every day, making sacrifices many of us cannot even imagine to ensure safety and security for all. I introduced this resolution because it is important to thank and honor these incredible heroes. It is important we express our gratitude every day for the exemplary and selfless way they protect our nation, and I encourage all Michiganders to take time not only on May 19, but whenever they encounter one of our servicewomen and men, to express that gratitude in person.”
