LANSING — Today, the Michigan House of Representatives held their annual Sept. 11 ceremony to commemorate those Michigan first responders lost in the line of duty during the past year, to honor those lost in the 2001 attacks and to recognize first responders serving in Michigan communities today. During the ceremony, state Rep. Tim Sneller (D-Burton) read the name of fallen Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Overall of Burton, who passed away in November 2017. Rep. Sneller hosted Police Chief Ron Wiles of the Grand Blanc Township Police Department at the ceremony and released the following statement:
“Every day, men and women throughout our state go to work not knowing what dangers that day will bring. It is a task that not many of us would willingly sign up for, and yet these public servants do. Recognizing these men and women today was not only an honor but a humbling reminder of the sacrifices they make to keep us all safe, which is why I am committed to doing everything I can to ensure they receive the benefits and services they have earned and deserve.”
