“I am pleased that my bill on school social media policies has been passed out of committee with unanimous support. It was great to receive input from so many educators who use social media to enhance their classrooms. In this age of rapidly evolving technological advancements, we are often shooting at a moving target when attempting to find the line between appropriate and inappropriate usage of a new social media platform, and sometimes we end up missing the mark. That is why it’s vital that school boards establish their own guidelines, to protect not only their students and teachers, but to make sure that as a community, they are in agreement about how to enhance educational communication in a safe and responsible way. I look forward to this bill moving to a vote in the House, and working with our friends in the Senate to have it passed quickly and sent to the governor for signing.”
