“I am happy to see the Senate move closer toward expanding Medicaid to include more than 400,000 working Michiganders. While I don’t agree with all of the changes to House Bill 4714, this draft will at least ensure the debate continues and moves toward a conclusion in time to implement the program. In the House, we worked extremely hard on this issue in committee and on the floor, and I am glad the Senate is now doing the same. I look forward to working with senators and representatives on both sides of the aisle, along with the governor and his administration, to craft the best possible legislation. We must do this to ensure health care for our working low-income residents, save small businesses money, relieve clogged emergency rooms and reduce uncompensated care for which Michigan citizens are paying.”
