“I’m happy to see that Gov. Snyder is in line with many of the ideas and proposals the House Democratic Caucus announced last week. Any change to our energy infrastructure needs to focus on lower electric bills for residents and businesses alike while also providing jobs in Michigan. However, as with any large-scale proposal, the devil is in the details. I’d like to see more of them in the governor’s plan for reaching the goals of increasing the Renewable Portfolio Standard and reducing and eliminating energy waste. While my Democratic colleagues and I are open to reforming our electric choice system, we want to see a job protection measure included in any legislation or Integrated Resource Plan. We cannot support changes to utilities unless it protects jobs and ratepayers.”
