It makes no sense to balance the state budget with drastic cuts to our schools when we’re in a situation where we could actually increase funding for K-12 education. That’s not what the people of Michigan want and it will put our economic recovery in jeopardy. Our kids will pay the price of these deep, unnecessary cuts – we’ll see fewer programs, bigger class sizes and less support for them to develop the skills they need to compete in the global economy.
Cutting education puts Michigan at a severe disadvantage in competing against other states and other countries for high-quality employers, it’s that simple. I’m going to keep fighting to invest in creating a world-class workforce in the Great Lakes Bay Region and our state.
