LANSING — This week, The House Health Policy Committee held a hearing on a bipartisan package of bills, the Safe Patient Care Act, House Bills 4629-4631, that would address nurse to patient ratios, and accountability and transparency from hospitals. In response, Rep. Sara Cambensy (D-Marquette) issued the following statement:

“I am pleased to see that the House Health Policy Committee has discussed the Safe Patient Care bills. As I stood side by side with the nurses in Marquette this fall, I saw firsthand how dedicated our nurses are, and I appreciate that they are continuing to fight for the patients and their safety. I will continue to advocate for changes to consecutive hours worked and disclosure of RN-to-patient ratios.
