LANSING, Mich., June 28, 2024 — The Michigan Legislature passed the final state budget for the 2025 fiscal year ahead of the legally required July 1 deadline. Democratic leaders crafted a budget focused on strategic, targeted investments that improve the lives of people and hometowns across Michigan without raising taxes. After the vote, Speaker Pro Tempore Laurie Pohutsky (D-Livonia) issued the following statement:

“Passing the budget is one of the most important legislative responsibilities we have as representatives who advocate for our hometowns and the people across Michigan. We’ve secured funding toward improving the quality of water in our state, providing equitable housing and investing in improved public safety. I am confident that we are building the foundations for stronger hometowns in every corner of Michigan. I see positive impacts for Livonia, Redford and Detroit through this budget. We have worked hard to represent and reflect the values of every Michigander.”
