LANSING, Mich., Jan. 6, 2021 — State Rep. Samantha Steckloff (D-Farmington Hills) was appointed to serve as the Democratic vice chair of the Michigan House Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education and Community Colleges for the remainder of the 2021-2022 legislative term. Steckloff released the following statement on her new appointment:
“I am honored to serve as the Democratic vice chair of the Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee. Throughout the eight years of my career in higher education working with students’ financial aid applications and allocating scholarships, I saw the financial struggles that nearly every college student faces. Not only do I understand the needs and restraints of the students but also those of the faculty, staff and university administration. I am excited to bring my experience to the committee and fight for the best interests of Michigan residents and colleges.”
Steckloff will also continue to serve as the Democratic vice chair of the Department of Transportation Subcommittee.
