LANSING — Tonight, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer gave her first State of the State address, outlining her vision for the state and calling for bipartisan collaboration to address the issues that matter most to Michigan’s working families. In response, state Rep. Lori Stone (D-Warren) issued the following statement:

“As Gov. Whitmer unveiled her agenda to prioritize our students and classrooms over corporate profits, I was honored to be joined by a revolutionary in Michigan public education. Day after day, educators across our state make countless sacrifices to provide their students the foundation for success in the future. I am proud to be a part of that mission, first as a teacher in Warren and now as an advocate for students and educators across the state. I look forward to working with Gov. Whitmer to close the skills gap and give every young Michigander the opportunity to learn and grow, regardless of what part of the state they come from.”

Rep. Stone was joined by Michigan Education Association Vice President Chandra Madafferi for the address.
