LANSING, Mich., Jan. 27, 2021 — Gov. Whitmer delivered her State of the State Address tonight, touching on the need for bipartisan efforts as Michigan continues to face the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts. In response, Rep. Joe Tate (D-Detroit), Democratic Vice-Chair of the House Committee on Appropriations, issued the following statement:
“Nobody could have truly foreseen the scale of the devastation COVID-19 would cause – both in terms of public health and the economy – but I’m pleased to see that the governor is focused on meeting the challenge of responding to the impact that this virus has had on Michigan residents. We are on the path to recovery, but the more we do to provide real support now, the more likely it is that we can keep our economic recovery on track.”
