LANSING, Mich., May 9, 2022 — Earlier this year, state Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Detroit) introduced a resolution declaring February as Fitness Month in Michigan. Thanedar has spearheaded initiatives to encourage people to be active and live healthy lifestyles. Thanedar and members of the Michigan Fitness Club Association, the Governor’s Council for Physical Fitness, mParks, SHAPE-MI, MPTA, Priority Health and the American Heart Association are promoting May as Michigan Moves Month. This effort will focus on getting Michiganders to engage in more physical activity.
“Physical activity is one of the most important things we engage in to remain healthy,” Thanedar said. “I am proud of the broad coalition we have brought together to encourage healthy lifestyles across Michigan. Promoting Michigan Moves Month sends a message that we take the well-being of our friends and neighbors seriously. Let’s get moving!”
