Dear Friends,
As you may have heard, last week one of our neighbors was killed in a tragic car crash on Dorset Ave. near I-94. This accident, which occurred in broad daylight on a clear morning, was the second fatal wreck in the area in less than a year.
In the interest of public safety, Township Supervisor Brenda Stumbo and I have combined forces in convening an urgent community meeting to determine the cause and possible remedies to avoid future accidents and loss of life. Our community meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 13, from 6-7:30 p.m. at New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church in Fellowship Hall, located at 2345 Tyler Road in Ypsilanti.
While this most recent crash remains under investigation, I believe that we, as a community, must act now to ensure the safety of all of our residents. This civil discussion will be an opportunity to provide input to promote safe and efficient traffic flow in our neighborhoods.
