LANSING – State Representative Jim Townsend (D-Royal Oak) invites residents to get information and answers to their questions at his Senior Resource Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 24, in Royal Oak. The free event will take place at the Leo Mahany/Harold Meininger Senior Community Center, 3500 Marais Ave.

“The Resource Fair gives our seniors an opportunity to get information about services and programs conveniently and quickly, all in one place,” Townsend said. “It’s important that residents know about what’s available to help them meet their needs, including making the most of Medicare, finding the right housing or accessing Senior Security or other benefits they have earned. With all the great organizations participating in the resource fair, people will be able to get information for the local, state and federal level.”

This free event will feature representatives from various organizations and elected officials’ offices. They will be available to provide information and answer questions on issues such as housing, health care, identity theft, Medicare, Social Security benefits and more.

In addition to Townsend and his staff, representatives from the following will be at the Senior Resource Fair:

  • Area Agency on Aging 1-B;

  • Michigan State Police;

  • Senior and Caregiver Resource Network;

  • Community Housing Network, Inc.;

  • Michigan Commission for the Blind; and

  • The offices of Congressmen Sander Levin and Gary Peters.
