Public safety is not just the job of the police — it’s a community responsibility.
From simple acts like turning on porch lights and walking in pairs or groups at night to more overarching societal obligations, such as improving educational and employment opportunities and expanding the stock of affordable housing options, we must all work together to address crime and its root causes.
To learn more about what we’re doing to help, please join me and my special guests Ypsilanti Attorney Robyn McCoy and state Rep. David LaGrand for our upcoming community conversation. We’ll discuss public safety, criminal justice reform, criminal records expungement and resources for returning citizens.
When: Monday, Oct. 25, from 6-7:30 p.m.
Where: Riverside Arts Center located at 76 N. Huron St. in Ypsilanti.
