Legislative Updates

📜 Bipartisan Action to Protect Michigan’s Most Vulnerable

My colleagues and I have introduced a bipartisan package of bills to address issues with guardianship in our state.

Over the past few years, it has become clear that some of Michigan’s most vulnerable citizens are not receiving the support and assistance that they require. While most guardians and conservators work tirelessly to protect their wards, there are also bad actors looking to exploit those who cannot adequately protect themselves.

Working with the Attorney General’s Office and the Elder Abuse Task Force, we’ve crafted legislation that provides safeguards for the guardianship system, better outlines processes and procedures in the courts and offers guidance to family members.

Additionally, I’ve been working on a bipartisan, bicameral package that deals with human trafficking. The goal of this package is to protect survivors and victims of human trafficking from prosecution and to help them clear their records and reclaim their lives.
