Dear Friend,

This Friday, I am hosting a virtual lunch hour to connect with you about everything happening in the Capitol and right here in Lansing. We are honored to have a special guest in honor of Women’s History Month: Meaghan Bergman, from Michigan Women Forward. Our program will take place on Friday, March 26, at Noon.

Please RSVP by clicking here. Zoom information will be sent out the day of the event.

Thank you to everyone who attended our last virtual coffee hour in February (pictured below). We were joined by special guest Teresa Kmetz, President of Capital Area United Way. We had a great discussion about workforce development and skill building resources, the vaccination rollout in Ingham County and the need to increase broadband internet access in our community. We look forward to discussing even more topics related to state government on Friday!

MDOT Virtual Public Meeting: I-496 project

I wanted to share some information about the Michigan Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) upcoming virtual public meeting to discuss the I-496 project in Lansing. The meeting will take place Wednesday, March 31, at 4p.m. The construction project is scheduled to begin in 2022 and will encompass the rebuilding of I-496 from Lansing Road to the Grand River in the city of Lansing.

During this virtual meeting, there will be a brief presentation followed by a question-and-answer session. Questions can be submitted during the meeting using the chat function. Funding for this project is made possible by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Rebuilding Michigan program to rebuild the state highways and bridges that are critical to the state’s economy and carry the most traffic. The investment strategy is aimed at fixes that result in longer useful lives and improves the condition of the state’s infrastructure. For more information, click here.

You can also submit public comment by April 19. Provide concerns/comments discussed at this meeting regarding the project using the online comment form or by mail, e-mail or phone to MDOT Public Involvement Specialist and Hearings Officer, Monica Monsma, at MonsmaM@Michigan.gov or:
