LANSING, Mich., July 15, 2021 — State Rep. Regina Weiss (D-Oak Park) issued the following statement after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed a budget for preK-12 schools that makes historic investments and closes the funding gap between districts:

“As a teacher, I know how important it is that every child receives a great education. I am proud that our state has created a budget that will transform our education system by closing the funding gap for the first time, investing more into special education and counseling services, and funding pre-K at historic levels. This school finance investment is a significant leap in the right direction, but there is still more work to be done to ensure that every child in Michigan receives the full support, funding, and resources necessary to meet their individual needs.”
