Michigan House Democratic Caucus

Putting People First: It’s What We Stand For

Just as Michigan is woven together by a wonderfully diverse fabric of people and backgrounds, the Michigan House Democratic Caucus is made up of a unique group of representatives who bring with them a wide variety of legislative priorities and voices. Though House Dems find strength in the diversity we bring to Lansing from all corners of the state, collectively we stand united on one shared priority — putting people first.

Putting people first is more than simply an agenda — it’s a promise, a commitment to honor public service over self service, the public good over personal ego, and unity over division. We stand for the people. We advocate for all Michiganders.

With our commitment to putting people first, Michigan House Dems have passed legislation that creates an opportunity economy; increases public safety and reduces gun violence; supports hard working families; makes housing more affordable; uplifts students and teachers; ensures fair elections; safeguards reproductive and civil rights; and protects our land, air, and water.   Since gaining a Democratic trifecta for the first time in 40 years, we’ve been hard at work delivering on our promise to put Michiganders first — and we’re just getting started. House Dems plan to keep making real change, so that everyone in Michigan has the opportunity to be successful, to live equitably, and to thrive today and tomorrow. This is what we stand for, now and into the future.
