LANSING, Mich., Jan. 26, 2022 — Today, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer gave her State of the State address highlighting legislative priorities in infrastructure, economic development and tax reform for the upcoming year. State Rep. Karen Whitsett (D-Detroit) issued a statement in support of the governor’s priorities:
“I am proud to stand with the governor. Already this year, we’ve worked together to bring thousands of auto manufacturing jobs back to Michigan. She’s also supported our small businesses with millions in COVID relief funding. She’s been unwavering in her dedication to repair water lines, roads and bridges. She’s laid out a fairer tax system that will cut costs for working families by increasing the Earned Income Tax Credit. These are the issues that most Detroiters and most Michiganders care about. I look forward to continuing to work with her to get the job done.”
