LANSING, Mich., Feb. 27, 2025 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her seventh State of the State Address before a joint legislative session last night. In her speech, the governor discussed her plan to lower costs for families ahead of more looming tariffs, increase the workforce and deliver results for the people of Michigan. After the address, state Rep. Jimmie Wilson, Jr. (D-Ypsilanti) issued the following statement:

“I greatly support the governor’s continued focus on job growth in our state — our workers truly represent the future success of Michigan’s economy, but they need our continued support. Michigan built the middle class — and we must keep building. When we invest in job growth, we invest in the millions of hardworking and innovative Michiganders who must be empowered to set up our economy to thrive for generations to come.”
