LANSING — Today, House Republicans passed Senate Bill 40, allowing companies to receive tax credits from the state of Michigan for “job creation” even if some of those jobs go to out-of-state or foreign workers. In response to this move to siphon tax dollars and jobs away from the people of Michigan, state Rep. Robert Wittenberg (D-Huntington Woods) issued the following statement:

“This attack on Michigan’s working families provides no assurances to grow our state economy, but instead ensures our jobs will be taken by out-of-state workers — and that our tax dollars will pay for it. Once again, Republicans have chosen to rob working families in Michigan of their livelihoods and dignity, only to give everything and more to the wealthy corporate interests driving their agenda.”
