LANSING — State Rep. Angela Witwer (Delta Township) announced today that Erica Sampson, a 2nd grade teacher at Willow Ridge Elementary in Grand Ledge, is the winner of her Teacher of the Month Award for September. Each month, Rep. Witwer will announce the winner of this award in an effort to recognize excellence in education in the 71st House District.
“One of my favorite parts of this job is being able to meet with educators around our community and witness firsthand their passion for teaching and dedication to their students,” said Witwer. “Teachers play such an impactful role in the lives of our children, and I am continually honored to have the opportunity to present this award each month.”
The following is a testimonial submitted by one of Erica Sampson’s colleagues:
“Erica exemplifies all amazing, loving, master teachers. She takes every opportunity to not only help each one of her students be the best they can be — she does the same for our staff. She gets to know each of her students in a way that helps them to feel loved, safe and valued. They come back year after year, just to visit and get a hug because they still feel her love. She strives to create opportunities for struggling learners to have opportunities to grow and shine in unique and creative ways. Everyone adores her and she is a gem!”
As part of the award process, Witwer is inviting community residents to nominate teachers they believe deserve to be celebrated as the community’s “Teacher of the Month”.
