LANSING, Mich., May 10, 2022 — The House of Representatives voted today to send a proposed amendment to the Michigan Constitution to the November ballot. The amendment would require annual financial disclosure from legislators and state officers and restrict the number of years an individual can serve in the Legislature. After the vote, state Rep. Angela Witwer (Delta Township) issued the following statement:

“Michigan is one of only two states in the nation that doesn’t require some form of financial disclosure from politicians. The public deserves to know whether legislators’ financial interests play a role in their votes. This amendment would make this information available to constituents while restricting term limits to help legislators focus on their highest priority — serving the people — rather than their political aspirations.”
