Legislator continues commitment to securing millions to improve lives of working families, farmers
LANSING, Mich., April 25, 2025 — State Rep. Angela Witwer (Delta Township) submitted appropriations requests to allocate continued funding for infrastructure, public safety and agriculture for Eaton County in the FY 2026 state budget. As chair of the House Appropriations Committee last term, Witwer demonstrated a deep commitment to bringing millions in funding home to working families, farmers and local businesses in her community. After submitting appropriations requests to continue this work, Witwer released the following statement:
“The state budget is truly a reflection of our priorities, and my top commitment as a state legislator has always been to improve the lives of the families, farmers and workers across Eaton County. People and municipalities need relief from high costs. Family farms need support to continue their business today and for generations to come. Local public safety officials need updated equipment and sound roads. I am dedicated to putting investments back into our community — these investment requests are crucial to ensuring people can continue to live, work and thrive across Eaton County.”
Witwer submitted the following appropriations requests:
- Bank Intercounty Drain Project – $10 million
- Horner Mill Site in Eaton Rapids – $4 million
- Eaton County Animal Control Building – $2.5 million
- M-43 Carrier Creek Crossing – $2.5 million
- Eaton Rapids Fire Department Aerial Fire Truck – $2,400,000
- Hamlin Township Fire Department Fire Pumper – $750,000
- Future Farmers of America (FFA) – $4 million
- Altarum Institute Behavioral Health Peer Support Services – $1.7 million
- Altarum Institute for Continued Operation of E-Consent Tool – $750,000
