LANSING, Mich., March 13, 2020 — State Rep. Angela Witwer (Delta Township) successfully secured funding for a new fire engine for the Delta Township Fire Department within a bipartisan supplemental state budget agreement approved by the Legislature this week.

“After reaching out to municipal leaders throughout Eaton County to find important local projects with funding challenges, a new fire engine for the Delta Township Fire Department kept coming up as a desperate need so the department could continue providing exceptional public safety services to residents of the township,” Witwer said. “Thankfully, we were able to work across the aisle during the supplemental budget process to deliver funding for this essential need.”

Delta Township has a very active fire department covering nearly 108 square miles and responding to more than 7,000 calls for service annually. Delta Township also provides service for the Looking Glass Regional Fire Authority and is responsible for protecting critical infrastructure such as the Lansing Board of Water and Light’s Erickson Power Plant, General Motors, Auto Owners headquarters, and large Meijer distribution facilities. The new fire engine purchased using these supplemental budget funds will be used to provide front-line service for the department.
