Democrats continue building stronger hometowns, supporting troops

LANSING, Mich., May 14, 2024 — The Michigan House of Representatives passed its fiscal 2024-25 budget last week. It includes substantial investments in Michigan students, local economies, and the wellbeing of Michiganders. House Dems are reinforcing their commitment to building stronger hometowns and investing in working Michiganders. After voting on the budget, state Rep. Mai Xiong (D-Warren) issued the following statement:

“Selfridge Air Base is vital to the local economy and key for securing our defense here in Michigan. I’m proud to have gotten the opportunity to vote in favor to provide investments to the air base. Selfridge employs service members from every branch of the military and supports an untold number of civilian jobs, both on the base and in the region. With these funds, we are making Michigan stronger, as well as keeping Macomb’s economy flying high.”
