LANSING, Mich. Sept. 25, 2024 — Michigan House Democrats held a press conference today on a plan that would supplement funding for school systems across the state to use for school safety and mental health. This legislation would allow schools to spend responsibly on solutions tailored to each school’s individual needs. After the conference, state Rep. Mai Xiong (D-Warren) issued the following statement:

“This bill furthers our commitment to putting our public schools first, and making sure classrooms have the resources they need to keep students safe, bright-minded and fulfilled. Safety and mental health needs vary from school to school, and from student to student. I’m excited that this funding will support our schools while prioritizing the safety of all children.”
