LANSING, Mich., Jan. 31, 2025 — State Rep. Stephanie A. Young (D-Detroit) has been appointed as the minority vice chair of the House Families and Veterans Committee for Michigan’s 103rd Legislature. The announcement was made yesterday. In her new leadership role, Young will work to advocate for policies that support Michigan’s families and honor the service and sacrifices of the state’s veterans.

“I am honored to serve as minority vice chair of the Families and Veterans Committee,” Young said. “Our families and veterans deserve strong, compassionate leadership that ensures they have access to the resources and support they need. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to uplift Michigan families, protect our veterans and create meaningful change in our communities.”

Young previously served as chair of the Families, Children and Seniors Committee in the 102nd Legislature, where she championed initiatives to support Michigan’s most vulnerable populations. She has been a steadfast advocate for the residents of the 16th District, championing initiatives that address community violence intervention and equitable access to health care and education. As minority vice chair, she will continue her commitment to policies that improve the well-being of families and veterans across Michigan.
