DETROIT, Mich., Dec. 19, 2022 — State Rep. Stephanie A. Young (D-Detroit) was sworn in last Friday by Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist for her second term in Michigan’s House of Representatives. Young will represent Michigan’s new House District 16, which comprises parts of Detroit, South Redford Township and southeast Livonia.

“I was honored to have Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist administer my oath of office before a host of family, friends and community leaders in my district,” Young said. “It has been 40 years since there has been a Democratic House, Senate and governor’s office. I’m excited about the progress we can make over the next two years that will improve the lives of working families, seniors, children and our environment. With the support of my community, I’m confident we’ll get it done!”

“I’m really thrilled and honored to be part of a celebration of a public servant who I had the pleasure and privilege to meet in my first stint in the public sector, working in city government in the city of Detroit,” said Lt. Gov. Gilchrist. “When she shows up in the community, you know what she’s there for: to listen and be responsive.”

Young served her first term in Michigan’s 101st Legislature representing the 8th House District. Visit young.housedems.com to learn more about state Rep. Young.
