YOU’RE INVITED to the House District 10 Legislative Walk!
As a state representative, it is vitally important that I connect with constituents to hear about their priorities for our community. I am most effective as a legislator when my decisions in Lansing are informed by the voices of my constituents in NW Detroit and Redford. For the past several months, my team and I have been knocking doors in House District 10 to hear what issues, concerns and goals our neighbors have as well as offering help and resources to constituents and their families. But in order to reach everybody, I need your help.
Meet me at the O’Hair Park Pavilion on Sunday, Sept. 12, from 12-4 p.m. for OUR FIRST House District 10 Legislative Walk. If you want to connect with your neighbors but don’t know where to start, my team will provide door-knocking training and set you up with resources to positively and safely interact with every resident you encounter. You don’t need canvassing experience or expertise in state government to make a difference. All you need is a willingness to listen to others. Come for as long as you’d like. We’ll have water bottles and food available, with plenty of time for fellowship and fun in the newly renovated park!
What you need to know: Let us know you’re coming by sending an RSVP to MaryCavanagh@house.mi.gov (do not reply directly to this email). Street parking is available along Stahelin, and the park has a lot off Trojan. Please make sure to dress comfortably for walking outside. We will be passing out literature pieces, so I recommend a small bag or fanny pack to carry the literature, water and anything else you might bring along. If you can, bring a friend!
Thank you for your willingness to reach out to your neighbors. As I enter my ninth month working as your state representative, I am continually touched by the thoughtfulness of my constituents and the tight sense of community among neighbors in House District 10. If we haven’t had a chance to meet yet, please stop by O’Hair Park on Sept. 12 and say hello. As always, if you need assistance from my office, don’t hesitate to contact us at MaryCavanagh@house.mi.gov or (517) 373-0857.
