Dear Friend,

While enjoying the long weekend ahead of us, don’t forget that there is still time remaining for students to enter my summer reading contest! The contest ends Labor Day, and students in grades 1-8 can submit entry forms until Sept. 13 by simply writing down the title and number of pages for each book they read this summer. They can then send me the list, and on Sept. 14 I will announce winners from grades 1-4 and 5-8 to receive an e-reader. Some local libraries may still have bookmarks available that also serve as entry forms. Though area schools agreed to help distribute bookmarks that promote the contest, this is not a school-sponsored activity. The prizes are paid for with my personal funds — not with taxpayer dollars.

Students can visit my webpage at Faris.housedems.com and find a digital entry form, or they can keep track of the books they read on the bookmarks that were handed out at schools and libraries. For more information, call or email my office at (517) 373-7557 or pamfaris@house.mi.gov. Remember, it’s quality, not quantity, that matters!

Sincerely,

State Representative Pam Faris
